Born in Cheshire, England, Anne Farrall Doyle is a prominent artist at the ICAS Vilas Art Gallery UK; her stunning modern landscapes, figurative art, and Equus collections are regularly featured in our monthly exhibitions.

Anne’s artistic journey began when she completed her studies at Stockport College of Art. She started her career at a Manchester advertising agency, where she honed her skills and utilized her art qualifications. Eventually, she decided to take the leap and become a freelance illustrator.

Through hard work and talent, Anne quickly gained recognition as a fashion illustrator at a high-profile London agency. As her reputation grew, she expanded her portfolio to encompass a variety of subject matters, attracting clients from around the world.

Anne’s love of travel took her to many countries in Europe and North Africa, and she eventually settled in exotic places such as Spain, France, Munich, and Ireland. These diverse experiences provided a platform for her to create even more imaginative and inspired art pieces.

CREATIVE IMPULSE

My inspiration can come from the transience of nature or the intriguing social exchanges.

My subject matter ranges from my surrounding landscapes, people, still life, nature, and animals. Visual excitement captures my imagination as I see a knarled knot in a tree, gracefully soft grasses waving in a breeze, or shimmering reflections in the field puddles. I love to drift between cafes and streets, capturing moments of happiness, loneliness, and interaction. However, the deciding factor is always the perfect balance of colours and shapes; always, the aim is too far.

My working world is necessarily solitary, albeit I have my faithful four-legged companions; sometimes, their paws imprint on the day’s work.

After a morning of sketching, planning, and sourcing material, helped by many cups of tea, the moment arrives when I feel the need to work quickly to allow my canvas to open up and join me in a mind’s picture.

My chosen medium is primarily oiled, although all mediums I used also achieve my mind’s vision. Eventually, when all is working well, I begin to work on another level of intuition. I now trust my inspiration, joy, and freedom of painting.
