EXPLORING THE ICONIC SIGHT OF VENICE
Joseph Mallord William Turner (April 1775 -1851), RA, known in his time as William Turner, was an English Romantic painter, printmaker, and watercolourist. He is known for his expressive colourisations, imaginative landscapes, and turbulent, marine paintings. Turner made regular visits to Venice his first in 1819, 1833 & 1835.
Claude Monet (July 1834 – 1903), painted a series of impressionist oil paintings of Venice during his three months trip in Venice in 1908 his famous painting being the Le Grand Venice. This painting captured some of Venice’s iconic buildings in a particularly flattering autumn light.
